Kanye West references Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson at ‘DONDA 2’ event
The listening event took place in LA yesterday evening
Kanye West, who is now known officially as ‘ye’, referenced both his wife and her new partner Pete Davidson at the listening event for ‘DONDA 2’ in Miami last night (February 22).
West used a clip from Kardashian’s monologue on Saturday Night Live where in which she said: “I married the best rapper of all time. Not only that, he is the richest black man in America. A talented, legit genius who gave me four incredible kids.”
‘DONDA 2’ was expected to be released yesterday but as yet, the album has failed to materialise.
Later in the event, he appeared to take aim at Davidson in two new songs, ‘Eazy’ and ‘Security’.
On the former track, reports suggest West rapped: “Pop some, I ain’t getting frisked. I put your security at risk,” seemingly in reference to messages from Kardashian that were publicly shared by West in which she said West was putting Davidson’s security at risk by continual references to him on social media.
West continued to rap: “Ok we gon’ make this an event? y’all gone need security for this…Never take the family picture off the fridge. Never stand between a man and his kids. Y’all ain’t got enough security for this.”
On ‘Eazy’, there is a much more pointed comment towards Davidson, with West rapping: “God saved me from that crash/ Just so I can beat Pete Davidson’s a***.”
West and Kardashian married in 2014. Kardashian filed for divorce in February 2021 citing “irreconcilable differences”. The former couple have four children together.
Kardashian appeared alongside Davidson on SNL last year in an Aladdin sketch where the pair famously kissed: a month later they went public with their relationship.
Elsewhere at the listening event, West brought out Marilyn Manson who is currently facing multiple allegations for sexual assault. Manson has denied the claims.
Pusha T, Migos, Jack Harlow, Fivio Foreign and Alicia Keys were also among a number of other artists who appeared during the event.
