Iceland Airwaves 2024 returns to Reykjavik once more

More names have been confirmed for Iceland Airwaves 2024 as the annual showcase festival prepares its return to Reykjavik.

The multi-venue event will take in the Icelandic capital in early November once more, boasting local talent and international acts across three days.

Now, having unveiled the likes of Joy Anonymous, Overmono and The Vaccines, there’s even more acts gearing up for a trip to Reykjavik.

They include American soul talent Ravyn Lenae, San Sebastian trio Merina Gris, and genre-fusing star Sila Lua.

They’ll be joined by Stockholm group Dina Ögon – who were co-signed by Tyler, the Creator and Icelandic talents such as Juno Paul, and post-hardcore noisemakers MÍnus. In addition, fans can also expect SKRATTAR – excitingly self described as “the most dangerous pop band in Iceland”.

Away from the music, there’s also talks from the likes of Spotify’s Global Editorial strategy team lead James Foley and Junia Jonsdottir, one of the key people behind the rise of Icelandic Grammy winner Laufey.

Describing Airwaves’s 25th Anniversary year, Ísleifur Þórhallsson, Festival Manager for Iceland Airwaves says: “We are incredibly proud to be celebrating not only 25 years of Iceland Airwaves, but 25 years of playing a key part in the careers of some of the world’s most talented artists. Over the years, we have seen many of our Airwaves alumni grow from strength to strength, often developing into some of the industry’s most acclaimed artists. It is an honour to continue to bring new talent to Reykjavík and share our beloved Icelandic community with the world.”

The festival runs from November 7 – 9 and you can buy tickets here.

Reviewing the festival’s 2022 edition, Rolling Stone UK said: “While question marks over Airwaves’ future may have emerged in the last three years, 2022’s offering proves that the festival is in ruder health than ever. With a line-up that flits between the best of today and the talents of tomorrow, it’s an essential trip for music lovers across the continent. When paired with the natural beauty and magic of Reykjavik, it becomes near unmissable.”
