Here‘s our dream setlist for Oasis‘ comeback tour

Here's the songs we want to hear next summer.

So it’s happened. After 15 long years, it’s finally happened. Liam and Noel Gallagher have dropped the acrimony, the non-stop war of words and united once more for music’s ultimate greater good: Oasis.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock this morning, you’ll be well aware of the fact that the Britpop icons will reunite for a string of massive gigs at venues including London’s Wembley Stadium and Manchester’s Heaton Park next summer.

There’s also the small matter of a new photo too, which sees the pair together for the first time since a backstage feud at Rock en Seine festival in Paris spelled the end of the group. Elsewhere, the cryptic first statement from the band reads: “The guns have fallen silent. The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised.”

But in the wake of the announcement, talk inevitably turns to the setlist. Is it going to be all killer and no filler? Or are we talking more ‘Digsy’s Dinner’ and less ‘D’You Know What I Mean?’

Either way, we’ve racked our brains and tried to come up with what we believe will be the definitive setlist for those shows next summer.

We’ve got what we believe to be the definitive Oasis opener in ‘Hello’, but there’s room for a few later favourites too – 2005’s ‘The Importance Of Being Idle’ is up there as one of the band’s latter-day classics.

It’s also interesting to note that Oasis return into a world where B-sides basically don’t exist, but in ‘Acquiesce’ they have what we’d argue is the single best song in the category of all time. It’s somewhat of a travesty that this anthemic hammerblow of a track was relegated to a footnote on the ‘Some Might Say’ single release in ’95, but its pure power and strength as a song has meant it transcended its initial placing and become a firm fan favourite. The Liam verses and Noel chorus show their vocal interplay at its very best, and no Oasis reunion setlist would be complete without it.

‘Acquiesce’ was also released as part of B-sides compilation The Masterplan (1998), and we’re campaigning for that album’s title track to have a spot on the setlist too. As majestic as Oasis have ever sounded, this is Noel at his finest and will prove a perfect, swaying foil to the bluster and swagger of the rest of the set.

Without further ado, then, here’s our perfect Oasis comeback setlist.
