Harry Styles dedicates song to Halsey at New York City show on the birth of their child
Styles dedicated 'Kiwi' to Halsey following the recent birth of the singer's child
Harry Styles took a moment to dedicate his song ‘Kiwi’ to Halsey during a show in New York City last night (October 5).
Styles sang the 2017 track towards the end of his set at Madison Square Garden. After the lyric “I’m having your baby,” Styles then pointed to Halsey, who was in the crowd, and sang “You just had a baby.”
The dedication referred to the recent birth of their child Ender, with partner Alev Enden. “Gratitude. For the most ‘rare’ and euphoric birth. Powered by love,” they announced on Instagram in July, along with a series of black and white pictures.
Styles’ rendition of ‘Kiwi’ on his current tour has also seen the singer aid a couple with the gender reveal of their own baby.
At a show in Nashville, Tennessee earlier this month, he spotted a woman in the crowd holding a sign reading: “I’m having a baby. Please make it your business…”, a reference to ‘Kiwi’ line “I’m having a baby, it’s none of your business.”
The woman’s friend was holding a sign next to her, that continued ‘…and read these gender results’. Taking an envelope and a phone from the pair, Styles then called the woman’s partner.
“I revel in these moments because I know everything and you don’t,” Styles said, then inviting the audience to count down from ten, before revealing: ‘A little baby girl!’
It’s not the first time Styles has replied to messages written on signs by fans on his current run of shows. In Saint Paul, Minnesota, he stopped a show after spotting a fan holding up a sign reading, ‘Should I text him?’
“In my opinion, if you should, then this isn’t even a question,” Styles said, before quoting ‘The Notebook’: ‘‘My personal opinion is that if there’s any sort of games: Trash, trash, trash, not for you.”
Last week, meanwhile, Halsey shared a new EP of remixes of their track ‘I am not a woman, I’m a god’. Hot Chip, Underworld, Gazelle Twin and On U-Sound all contributed new versions.
