Giggs releases first new solo music of 2022 with ‘Da Maximum’
The first release of 2022 from the rap legend
Giggs has returned with a brand new single – listen to ‘Da Maximum’ below.
The London rapper has released his first song since his 2021 double single ‘Differences’, featuring Brooklyn rapper Rowdy Rebel, and ‘Innocent’. It also follows his Now or Never mixtape that was shared in 2020, a year on from his third studio album Big Bad.
In April of this year Giggs collaborated with Aitch on the single ‘Just Coz’, a standalone song shared ahead of the August release of the latter’s debut album Close to Home.
Aitch said of that collaboration: “We were in the studio and we decided to turn up the vibes and do something a bit rowdier. It was natural, I got in the booth and I said what I had to say. Giggs got in the booth and said what he had to say. We had a good laugh, it was an honour to work with the big man. Giggs taught me a lot of stuff; he’s my guy for life.”
Though Giggs has not released an album since 2019, which featured collaborations with numerous American artists including Swizz Beatz, Jadakiss and French Montana, he has continued to release a steady stream of singles. Another standalone release was the song ‘So Stubborn’ for Top Boy.
Other collaborations shared over the last two years include one with Meek Mill (‘Northside Southside’) and Ray BLK (‘Games’) as well as Ghetts (‘Crud’).
Last year, Giggs released a Daily Duppy freestyle in which he made nods to Marvel and retro superhero characters to get his points across.
Opening the track, Giggs rapped: “The liveliest member, I’m live in the centre/ Rising Avenger/ Riding around, hiding a blender/ These guys are corona, I’m nice with the cleanser/ Quite an agenda/ Was gone till November/ I light up December/ I’m sending these texts she likes me to send her/ She likes me, I’m sexy, I like when it’s tender.”
