George Ezra shares new single ‘Anyone For You’ and announces third album
Ezra's third album 'Gold Rush Kid' will arrive on June 10
George Ezra has shared his first new music for four years in the form of ‘Anyone For You’, the first single from his newly-announced third album ‘Gold Rush Kid’.
Ezra had trailed his return earlier this month. Initially, a cryptic clip, posted to the singer-songwriter‘s social media channels, shared an a capella snippet of new music.
Later, Ezra confirmed the forthcoming release of ‘Anyone For You’, and launched a website called ‘Gold Rush Kid’ that promised fans ‘more information’ soon. Now, Ezra has shared the upbeat and optimistic track in full, along with a video that sees the singer performing across a number of natural settings.
He described the song as “a patchwork of lyric ideas found in old notebooks and chance moments shared between musicians in the studio.” The words include a verse dating back to before the writing of Ezra’s second album, 2018’s ‘Staying At Tamara’s’.
The musician also announced full details of his new album ‘Gold Rush Kid’, which will be released on June 10 via Columbia.
Explaining the title, Ezra said: “The Gold Rush Kid? That’s me.” He added of the album’s 12 songs, “they sound like me. That’s what ties them together.”
He will also preview new material at three intimate shows in February and March, in Manchester, Edinburgh and London. Fans who pre-order the album before the end of the month will gain access to an exclusive pre-sale for tickets.
The night before his comeback single, Ezra shared an emotional post on social media about his feelings on new music. “I’ve barely slept all week, it’s been years since I last released my own music and the energy and excitement is everywhere around me, I can feel it! It really does mean the world to me to release my own music, I hope you love this new tune.”
As well as headlining the Boardmasters festival in Cornwall, Ezra will also play his own massive headline show at London’s Finsbury Park on July 17. Support at the show will come from Blossoms and Holly Humberstone, with more TBA.
“Hello, it’s been a while – I know that, I feel it – but I’ve got some exciting news,” Ezra told fans in a video announcing the gig last August, recorded at the Finsbury Park train station. “I’m headlining a show at Finsbury Park next year, on the 17th of July 2022.”
“I want you to be there. I need you to be there. It’s gonna be a party,” he added.
