Elton John, Diana Ross and Queen are among the performers confirmed for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee concert – see the full line-up below.
The special event will take place in front of Buckingham Palace in London on Saturday, June 4 to mark Queen Elizabeth II’s landmark 70 years on the throne.
According to the BBC, 22,000 people will watch the show live and it’ll be broadcast on BBC One, iPlayer and Radio 2, with Kirsty Young and Roman Kemp on presenting duties.
Duran Duran, Alicia Keys, Hans Zimmer, Mabel, Celeste, Elbow, Nile Rodgers, Craig David and the UK’s Eurovision contestant Sam Ryder will also perform at the ‘Platinum Party At The Palace’.
Queen guitarist Brian May had previously hinted at the legendary band’s involvement during an interview with Zoe Ball on BBC Radio 2. “I don’t think I’m allowed to tell you this but I think something might happen,” May told Ball last month.
“There is talk of something happening. What can I tell you? We may be there, we may actually be there. Of course, it’s hard to follow standing on the roof of Buckingham Palace but you never know it might be possible.”
The musician’s latter comment was referring to his performance as part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations back in 2002.
Queen and their frontman Adam Lambert will open the ‘Platinum Party At The Palace’, with May teasing a similarly unique location. “There was a moment when I wondered, after Buckingham Palace roof where can you go? Well… you will see!” he said.
Diana Ross, who’s set to close next month’s concert, said: “[I’m] absolutely delighted to receive an invitation to perform on such a momentous and historic occasion.”
Elton John, meanwhile, will provide a pre-recorded performance as he is currently out on his ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road’ world tour.
Additionally, there’ll be appearances from a host of figures from the worlds of TV and film, including Stephen Fry, Sir David Attenborough and Dame Julie Andrews.
According to the BBC, the concert will “pivot around global themes that have been born, or evolved, during the breadth of Her Majesty’s reign”.
Ten-thousand tickets were made available to the public via a ballot, with 7,500 being offered to key workers, members of the Armed Forces, volunteers and charities.
Meanwhile, Diana Ross is also set to perform at Glastonbury 2022 next month in the coveted ‘Legends Slot’.
