Ed Sheeran, Doja Cat, Dave, Little Simz and more to perform at BRIT Awards 2022
More acts are to be announced for the BRITs ceremony on February 8
Ed Sheeran, Doja Cat, Dave, Little Simz are among the acts who have been confirmed to perform at the BRIT Awards next month.
Liam Gallagher will also perform at the 2022 awards ceremony, debuting his new single ‘Everything’s Electric’, which he announced yesterday (January 20).
BRITs 2022 Rising Star winner Holly Humberstone, who spoke to Rolling Stone UK about her win, will also join the live show broadcasted from London’s O2 Arena on February 8.
Sheeran is nominated for Artist Of The Year, Song Of The Year (‘Bad Habits’), Mastercard Album Of The Year (‘=’) and Best Pop/R&B Act at this year’s ceremony.
Dave will return to the BRITs stage after a landmark performance of ‘Black’ at the 2020 ceremony. The rapper is nominated in the following categories: Artist Of The Year, Song Of The Year (‘Clash’ featuring Stormzy), Mastercard Album Of The Year (‘We’re All Alone In This Together’) and Best Hip Hop/Grime/Rap Act.
Doja Cat is nominated for International Artist and International Song Of The Year, while Little Simz has nods for Artist of the Year, Mastercard Album of the Year (‘Sometimes I Might Be An Introvert’), Hip Hop/Grime/Rap Act and Best New Artist.
More acts are to be announced to perform on the night, BRITs organisers have said.
This year’s ceremony is hosted for the first time by Mo Gilligan, with Clara Amfo and Maya Jama on presenting duties.
There are other changes this year. Firstly, the ‘Male’ and ‘Female’ categories have been removed and replaced instead with ‘Artist of the Year’ and ‘International Artist of the Year’ in a move designed to be as inclusive as possible so artists are celebrated for their work first and foremost.
Secondly, there are four new genre awards: Alternative/Rock Act; Hip-hop/Grime/Rap Act; Dance Act, and Pop/R’n’B Act.
The ceremony will also celebrate Producers of the Year and Songwriter of the year, honorary awards decided upon by the BRITs committee. The rest of the awards are decided on by a Voting Academy of approximately 1,200 music industry experts across media, artists, labels, publishers, promoters, retailers and more
The BRIT Awards 2022 will air on ITV on February 8. Non-UK viewers can stream the ceremony via The BRITs’ official YouTube channel. Audience tickets are now on sale to the public via the AXS website here.
