Dua Lipa responds to Grammys snub for ‘Radical Optimism’
“It would have been nice to be recognised by your industry, especially as a woman”

Dua Lipa has reacted to her new album Radical Optimism failing to land a nomination at the Grammy Awards.
In a new interview with Billboard UK, the singer explained how 2024 has been “the best year of my life” after a headline slot at Glastonbury and the release of her third album.
But, as the singer explained, that record failed to land any love with the Recording Academy. “I’m so proud of Radical Optimism and where it’s brought me,” Lipa told Billboard UK.
“I love that album and I’m having the time of my life performing it live, and I’ve been able to do things that I thought I could only dream of this year, so I’m really grateful. Although it would have been nice to be recognised by your industry, especially as a woman, I’m so proud seeing so many incredible female artists nominated at the Grammys this year.”
At the same time though, the singer recognises she’s had one hell of a 2024. “I feel like I ticked so many of my boxes this year,” she said – having also performed with Elton John during the final flurry of her Royal Albert Hall special.
“Obviously Elton is no stranger to the Albert Hall himself and it felt like such a chic and elegant night, so I needed my most chic and fabulous friend to come and join me,” she said.
“He immediately said yes. One thing about Elton is that he always shows up for his friends. He’s super loyal … he’s just always been there, lending his ear and being so supportive.”
She also revealed how Adele had dished out some wisdom before her Glastonbury set. “I’ve been thinking about you all day and just wanted to wish you luck for tonight. Don’t forget to soak it all in,” Adele told the singer.
Lipa added: “You sort of earn this badge of honour in that moment, and it felt like I joined the coolest club in the world.”
Reviewing Lipa’s Glastonbury set earlier this year, Rolling Stone UK wrote: “It’s a polished pop masterclass and one of the most relentlessly fun headline sets to have graced the Pyramid Stage in recent years.”
