Check out exclusive backstage snaps of Yard Act’s Liverpool Sound City set
As Yard Act return from stateside escapades, they share exclusive photos of their first UK festival show back on home turf

Yard Act have shared a series of exclusive snaps in the wake of their storming performance at Liverpool’s Sound City last month. Check them out exclusively below.
The Leeds band, who featured in Rolling Stone UK’s second issue, delivered a seven-song set at the Arts Club as part of the acclaimed city festival.
The intimate performance marked one of the last times that the band, who secured a five star review from us for debut album ‘The Overload’, are likely to be seen in such rooms. Bigger tours beckon, as does a summer full of significant festival stop-offs including Glastonbury.
Enough from us though, here’s frontman James Smith on the band’s “greatest performance ever” and the accompanying snaps of the carnage.
Well, after Coachella and our first shows down the West Coast we threw ourselves in the sea and washed up in the Albert Docks – just in time for Liverpool Sound City, which we were coincidentally playing.
I’ve missed inner city multi venue festivals. The crowds queuing round the block, the lack of parking spaces, the mountains of guitar softcases and cymbal bags mounting up in fire escapes. The innocent civilians doing their Saturday shopping surrounded by half cut party animals staggering through the precinct with their face buried in a crumpled up timetable wondering if they’ve enough time to swing by the Zanzibar for a swift half before catching Yard Act at the Arts Club. You did NOT have time. That pint cost you your place in the queue, and for that you missed the greatest gig we have EVER played.
Fortunately, we have so much love for the city of Liverpool, we shall return, and then, we can make amends. Until then, try not to cry all over your laptop and/ or phone as you marvel at the excellent photography skills of our good friend Jamie Mac, who was there to capture the utter mayhem in all its feral glory.
