Charli XCX announces new single ‘New Shapes’ with Christine and the Queens and Caroline Polachek
"Get ready to fall in love"
Charli XCX has announced details of a new single called ‘New Shapes’, featuring Christine and the Queens and Caroline Polachek.
It comes after the singer seemingly revealed a huge list of collaborators set to appear on her next studio album over the weekend.
The new record has been previewed by recent single ‘Good Ones’, while a photo of a gravestone posted to Charli‘s Instagram page in August appeared to tease an album release date of March 18, 2022.
The new song is set to come out on Thursday (November 4) – watch a teaser of the track and see its artwork below:
In a new tweet posted yesterday (November 1), Charli shared a huge list of artists, some of whom she has collaborated with extensively in the past.
Though no context was shared for the list, many fans believe that they are all involved with the as-yet-unannounced new album, which will follow her lockdown-created record ‘How I’m Feeling Now’, which came out mid-way through 2020.
Among the list of names are Charli’s regular collaborators Christine & the Queens, Caroline Polachek and A.G. Cook, while other names on the list include Oneohtrix Point Never, The 1975‘s drummer and producer George Daniel, Rina Sawayama, super producer Ariel Rechtshaid and more.

Prior to the news, Christine & the Queens and Caroline Polachek had been linked with Charli’s new album, after the latter posted a photo of the three artists together on Instagram back in September, seemingly from a music video shoot. It’s not clear yet whether the music video for ‘New Shapes’ will also arrive this week.
Rumours were also circulating around Rina Sawayama’s potential involvement in the record, after Charli tweeted that the pair “texted about making a song” following this year’s BRIT Awards back in May.
In a recent interview teasing the new album, Charli said that the new material is “all sex and sexuality”.
It can make people dance and cry at the same time. It’s a vibe,” she told InStyle.
Earlier this month, the singer performed ‘Good Ones’ in a gothic graveyard on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, kicking off the performance by appearing to rise from her own grave.
