Rising Scottish soul star Brooke Combe has been announced as the winner of The Play Next Award at the Rolling Stone UK Awards 2024.
Every Monday, Rolling Stone UK’s Play Next series spotlights an exciting new act or group that we believe are on the way towards big things. This award recognises some of 2024’s rising stars that have put their marker down this year and enter 2025 as firm ones to watch.
Now, Brooke Combe has seen off strong competition from the likes of Nieve Ella, Elmiene, Master Peace, MRCY and Nia Smith to pick up the coveted gong.
Accepting the award, Combe said: This is class. I wanna thank my team who have backed me. I’m quite a shy person so I’m gonna get the fuck off this stage so thanks very much!”
The second Rolling Stone UK Awards kicked off earlier tonight with a performance from Leeds band English Teacher, who stunned attendees with a powerful rendition of ‘You Blister My Paint’ taken from their Mercury Prize-winning debut This Could Be Texas. This was followed by JADE’s stunning, stripped back rendition of ‘Angel of My Dreams’.
