Blur have announced they will join forces again next summer to play a huge show at London’s Wembley Stadium.
The Britpop icons – Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree – will play the 90,000 capacity stadium on July 8, supported by a line-up that includes the likes of Slowthai, Jockstrap and Self Esteem.
Tickets for the show will go on general sale from 10AM on Friday (November 18) and you can buy them here.
The show, their only UK date of 2022, marks the first time the band have performed together since releasing their acclaimed eighth album The Magic Whip back in 2015.
Describing the reunion, frontman Damon Albarn said: “We really love playing these songs and thought it’s about time we did it again.”
Graham Coxon said: I’m really looking forward to playing with my blur brothers again and revisiting all those great songs… blur live shows are always amazing for me. A nice guitar and an amp turned right up and loads of smiling faces…”
Alex James added: “There’s always something really special when the four of us get in a room. It’s nice to think that on 8th July that room will be Wembley Stadium.”
Dave Rowntree said: “After the chaos of the last few years, it’s great to get back out to play some songs together on a summer’s day in London. Hope to see you there.”
While the group have not performed since 2015, they have been busy as solo artists. Damon Albarn has continued with Gorillaz and his own solo work, Graham Coxon has teamed up with Rose Elinor Dougall for new project The Waeve, while next January sees Rowntree releasing his debut solo album ‘Radio Songs’.
