Billie Eilish has shared a gloomy new video for her single, ‘Male Fantasy’.
The single is the final track on her second studio album, ‘Happier Than Ever’, released in July 2021, and sees her reflect on past relationships.
In the video, which Eilish has directed and edited herself, the singer moves from room to room in an apartment as she tries to get over a break up.
This is the sixth video Eilish has directed for her latest album, ‘Happier Than Ever’. Previous self-directed videos include ‘Therefore I Am’, ‘Your Power’, ‘Lost Cause’, ‘NDA’ and the album’s title track.
The video has already amassed 2.1m views on YouTube since its premiere yesterday (6 December).
Eilish’s album has been nominated in the Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album categories at next year’s Grammy Awards. The album’s title track has also been nominated for Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Solo Pop performance. ‘Happier Than Ever: A Love Letter To Los Angeles’ has been nominated in the Best Music Film category.
Eilish will support the album’s release on a world tour in 2022, which will see her play shows across Australia, New Zealand, Europe and North America, with six shows at the O2 in London.
Eilish was recently named PETA’s ‘Person of the Year’ for 2021, becoming the animal welfare organisation’s youngest ever recipient. In a statement, using puns relating to Eilish’s lyrics and song titles, PETA founder Ingrid Newkirk said “Billie Eilish is making sure that the party’s over for meaty, milky meals as well as for leather, fur, and silk.
“PETA is happier than ever to celebrate her for seizing every opportunity to point out that vegan fashion and foods are kinder to the animals and the planet we share with them.”
Later this week, Eilish will perform as both host and musical guest on ‘Saturday Night Live’, with the show airing on 11 December.
