Beabadoobee has announced that her highly-anticipated second album will be called ‘Beatopia’.
The Dirty Hit-signed singer-songwriter has been teasing the follow-up to her 2020 debut album ‘Fake It Flowers’ and last year’s ‘Our Extended Play’ EP over the past few months, with the record expected to arrive later this year.
“‘Beatopia’ the name of my record,” Bea Kristi wrote on Twitter to announce the album’s name alongside photos of her posing by billboards emblazoned with the album title.
Adding that she and guitarist Jacob Bugden “went a bit crazy making it,” she said: “I can’t wait for it to be yours to hear.”
In a recent interview about the album, Beabadoobee said every song on her new record “is in a whole different world,” adding: “I’ve never made such different songs in one piece of music before.
“It’s the first time where every single song you just can’t compare it to anything else from the record. There’re some songs where it’s just me and some songs where it’s very heavy. We reference a lot of music we were listening to at the time, Jacob and I.”
Asked about when the record might be released, she said: “Sometime in 2022. Obviously you’ve got to wait a little bit longer, but we’re working on it and we’ve worked really hard on this record, so we’re trying to take our time.”
Last month, she shared her first new music of 2022 in the form of ‘Fall In Love With A Girl’, a collaboration with Cavetown.
