beabadoobee: ‘Matty Healy always gives me really good advice’
The singer opens up in a new video by Rolling Stone UK

beabadoobee has opened up on the influence that The 1975’s Matty Healy has had on her career, as well as the “pep talks” he has occasionally given her.
The singer, who released her second album Beatopia earlier this year, is label mates with Healy on Dirty Hit and teamed up with him to release 2021’s Our Extended Play.
Speaking on the shoot for her feature in the August/September 2022 issue of Rolling Stone UK, the singer explained how Healy had been a constant source of advice throughout her career.
“He gives me really good advice and always has the best thing to say,” she explained.
“We did a whole EP together and every time he comes to my show he gives me a pep talk and they really stick. They really make a difference as well! I hate to admit it but yeah I guess he’s right sometimes.”
She was talking to Rolling Stone UK to mark the release of Beatopia, which our four star review hailed as an album that “expands the dimensions of the world in which her music exists”.
“It remains a far more exploratory second record with a cohesive, slightly surrealist, mood unifying its 14 tracks — and stand-outs like the orchestral ‘Ripples’ and ‘Talk’ deftly show that Laus can tackle both emotional heft and swaggering bravado,” our verdict stated. “It feels like a real step up.”
