Angel Olsen unveils new version of ‘Big Time’ with Sturgill Simpson
The album met with acclaim back in June

Angel Olsen has shared a new, collaborative version of the title track from her latest album — you can hear it below.
The acclaimed singer-songwriter only released Big Time this past June; a deeply personal record in which she reckoned with both her sexuality and the loss of both of her parents, it met with rave reviews across the board.
Never one to sit still for long, though, Olsen has now unveiled a new version of the song ‘Big Time’, reimagined as a duet with Grammy-winning alt-country stalwart Sturgill Simpson.
“It’s crazy to write a song and then watch someone else you really admire sing your words, kinda turns the whole thing on its head”, said Olsen in a statement. “I loved the song already but hearing Sturgill’s take on ‘Big Time’ made me smile ear to ear, he made it come alive on a different level.”
The re-release of the song so soon after the June release of Big Time follows a pattern for Olsen of releasing reworked material; in the summer of 2020, she put out Whole New Mess, which reimagined many of the songs from the previous year’s All Mirrors in a more rustic style.
Olsen spent much of the summer on an expansive tour of the US with Julien Baker and Sharon Van Etten, the latter of whom she duetted with last year on ‘Like I Used To’. Now, she’s gearing up for a first run of UK shows since February of 2020, heading to London, Bath, Manchester and Edinburgh next month with support from Tomberlin, who released acclaimed second album I Don’t Know Who Needs to Hear This… back in April.
