Sam Fender has shared the music video for ‘People Watching’, starring Hollywood actor Andrew Scott.
The Fleabag star takes centre stage in the visuals for the title track of Fender’s upcoming third album, which arrives on February 21.
Shot in California, the sun-soaked video sees Scott star as a man wrangling with the loss of his mother, who is seen in a number of flashbacks throughout the clip.
Describing his involvement in the video, directed by Stuart McIntyre, Scott said: “Sam’s masterpiece of a song has become a true friend to me. Working on it was truly cathartic, and I’ll always be grateful to Sam for his extraordinary talent, and for the other artists who made this film, and of course to my mum, who I will hold in my heart til the day I die.”
Fender said: “I’m really excited for the People Watching video to be out in the world this week. I was so buzzing when I found out Andrew wanted to be involved – I’m a huge fan of his and he was absolutely perfect for the role.”
Last week saw Fender share the third taste of his upcoming album, the brooding ‘Arm’s Length’.
In a five-star review of his show at London’s O2 Arena in December 2024, Rolling Stone UK wrote: “What’s clear from tonight is that Fender is capable of slaying the biggest of stages with – to borrow an image from one of his heroes – all the ease of Paul Gascoigne gliding through an opposition defence.”
He will play a show at the London Stadium this summer, before heading back to his native Tyneside for three dates at Newcastle FC’s St James’ Park.
