Aitch launches free travel scheme to help music fans experience gigs this summer
"Young people, this is one for you. You lot have been locked up for two years, it's time to travel and explore new horizons"
Aitch has launched a new travel scheme to help music fans get to gigs and festivals this summer.
The Manchester rapper has teamed up with energy drink Relentless to launch ‘Aitch-S2’ to ensure young people do not miss out on music experiences due to rising travel expenses and the cost of living crisis.
The scheme will offer train vouchers worth up to £100 to music fans under 25 across July and August. They can be used on London North Eastern Railway (LNER) services and National Rail.
Aitch, real name Harrison Armstrong, said: “I’m really excited to launch The Aitch-S2 with Relentless – there’s so much amazing culture around the UK, but for young people to experience it, they need to break out of their city limits – this is even more difficult since the pandemic with less resources dedicated to levelling up the culture.
“I don’t want anyone missing out on what is going to be a summer to remember, so this initiative will offer free travel to help young Brits get back out there and have fun, no matter the location.”
The scheme’s website also reads: “Young people, this is one for you. You lot have been locked up for two years, it’s time to travel and explore new horizons – without restrictions. That’s why Aitch and Relentless have teamed up to offer free train travel for everyone under 25 this summer.
“No more staying in – it’s time to get out.”
The scheme is on offer from July 5 to August 25, with winners set to be chosen at random.
In May, Aitch announced his forthcoming debut album Close To Home, which is due out August 19 via Capitol.
Last month, Aitch teamed up with Bakar on new single ‘In Disguise’, the latest cut from his forthcoming debut album Close To Home. It followed May single ‘1989’ which sampled The Stone Roses, April’s ‘Just Coz’ with Giggs and ‘Baby’ featuring Ashanti in March.
In a press release, Aitch described his forthcoming debut as “a love letter to the city which shaped him” that will “reveal a well of hidden depths to surprise, delight and charm”.
“Close To Home My debut album!” the rapper wrote on social media. “This one means a lot. The past 4 years have been crazy thank you to everyone that’s been involved, I can’t appreciate you enough, whether you been here from the start or not I got nothing but love.”
