4 albums you need to hear this week
With music by Christine and the Queens, Duval Timothy, and Louis Tomlinson
In the age of streaming, it’s never been easier to listen to new music — but with over 60,000 new songs added to Spotify every day, it’s also never been harder to know what to put on. Every week, the team at Rolling Stone UK will run down some of the best new releases that have been added to streaming services.
This week, we’ve highlighted records by Christine and the Queens, Duval Timothy, and Louis Tomlinson.
Christine and the Queens, Redcar Les Adorables Étoiles
Redcar sees Christine and the Queens in the middle of a huge transformative period. Physically, this manifests itself in monumental life changes — the singer has been living as a man for a year now. But it is evident in the music too, here darkness and light sits together on a French language record. A bold new direction.

Duval Timothy, Meeting with a Judas Tree
Multi-instrumentalist Duval Timothy follows his recent work with Kendrick Lamar with Meeting with a Judas Tree. Recorded between various studios (and his own home) in south London; in Freetown, Sierra Leone; and Casa Mahler, Spoleto, it’s full of contemplative piano-led music and field recordings inspired by the artist’s nature walks.

Gold Panda, The Work
The fourth album from Gold Panda was six years in the making, and is named after a concept that the UK electronic musician picked up in therapy — to work on oneself. In a press release for the album, the artist says that today he is sober and happier, and raising daughters, reflected in the album’s bold and playful sound.

Louis Tomlinson, Faith in the Future
On his second solo album, Louis Tomlinson leans heavily into the indie pop sounds that he has professed to be his true love. It might be a little on the long side at 16 tracks, but efforts such as ‘Written All Over Your Face’ – a guitar-led anthem – prove that he’s a talented songwriter.
