New Order to livestream show from The O2 in November
The livestream will feature the band's first ever show at the O2, and their first London show since 2018
New Order will be livestreaming their first ever show at The O2 in November.
The rock band recently returned to live shows with a homecoming performance at Manchester’s Heaton Park, and will be performing at London’s O2 on November 6 for a sold out show that will be available to stream around the world.
Following 18 months of no live shows due to the pandemic, and cancelled gigs in the US and Japan, the band are broadcasting the show to reach as many fans as possible.
“We were so looking forward to seeing everyone on tour by now. It has been frustrating not being able to play live in person, but this is the next best thing,” the band said in a statement. “It feels right to bring everyone together around the world through whatever means possible. This is a special show for us and we want to share it with you all.”
New Order’s first show at the London venue will be their first performance in London since Alexandra Palace in 2018, streamed via Live Here Now.
New Order premiered their new single ‘Be a Rebel’ during lockdown last year, and recently released ‘Be a Rebel Remixed’ a set of 11 remixes from various producers and DJs.
The band will also be celebrating the 40th anniversary of debut album ‘Movement’ in November 13, releasing their ‘Taras Shevchenko’ film on YouTube.
New order predecessor Joy Division will also release an anniversary vinyl edition of ‘Still on February 11 2020.
Tickets for the New Order livestream at the O2 can be purchased here. The stream will be available for 72 hours.
Last week it was announced that four posters in memory of the late Primal Scream and New Order singer Denise Johnson would be auctioned by the Music Venue Trust (MVT). The singer died in July 2020 aged 56 due to natural causes.
The first poster ‘Elephant Stone’, designed by Newcastle artist Baba Youngblood and signed by former Stone Roses bassist Mani, is up for auction until Friday (October 22) here.
