Megan Thee Stallion recalls 2020 shooting: “I was really scared”
The rapper will open up about the incident in an interview with 'CBS This Morning' today (April 25)
Megan Thee Stallion has spoken out about being shot in an incident in 2020 which left her with a foot injury.
In the preview of a new interview with Gayle King on ‘CBS This Morning’ which is due to air today (April 25), the rapper said she was “really scared” and feared for her life.
She has alleged that Canadian rapper Tory Lanez shot her in the feet after an argument. Lanez was arrested on the night of the incident and formally charged in October 2020 with one count of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and one count of carrying a concealed, loaded, and unregistered firearm in a vehicle. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
In the interview preview, Megan Thee Stallion, real name Megan Pete, explained that the incident started with an argument “because I was ready to go and everybody else wasn’t ready to go”.
“But that’s normal friend stuff,” she added. “We fuss about silly stuff all the time.”
Fighting back tears, she continued: “I never put my hands on anybody. I never raised my voice too loud. This was one of them times where it was like, it shouldn’t have got this crazy. So I get out of the car and everything happens so fast. All I hear is this man screaming and he said, ‘Dance bitch’ and he started shooting. I was just like, ‘Oh my god’. He shot a couple of times and I was so scared.”
She also claimed that the shooter was standing up over the window from a car. “I didn’t even wanna move,” she said. “I didn’t wanna move too quick cos I’m like, ‘Oh my god, if I take the wrong step, I don’t know if he’s gonna shoot something that’s like important, I don’t know if he’s gonna shoot me and kill me’.”
King then proceeded to ask the rapper if she was afraid for her life. “I was really scared cos I had never been shot at before,” she replied.
The trial is expected to start in September 2022, where Lanez faces a maximum sentence of 22 years and eight months if convicted.
Last week Megan Thee Stallion released a new song called ‘Plan B’ after previewing it at Coachella weekend one, which was dedicated to “whom it may the fuck concern”.
