Yungblud has given an update on new music by his friend Lewis Capaldi, saying it “sounds great”.

Capaldi announced a break from music in the summer of 2023, cancelling tour dates to prioritise his mental health.

After being visibly affected by his Tourette’s during his Glastonbury performance that summer, Capaldi told fans: “The fact that this probably won’t come as a surprise doesn’t make it any easier to write, but I’m very sorry to let you know I’m going to be taking a break from touring for the foreseeable future.”

Speaking to The Sun, Yungblud has given the first indication that Capaldi is working on new material.“I have heard his new music, and it sounds great.”

Yungblud added that Capaldi “is getting his mental health right,” adding: “I love him, as me and him have been on this ride together. We experienced it at the same time, and he is perhaps the only friend who knows what I am going through, in the same way I know what he’s going through.”

Yungblud returned himself this week with new single ‘Hello Heaven, Hello’, which he said Capaldi helped him write.

“When I was making this album, I was really close with Lewis, and Lewis was like, ‘Just fucking sing, man’,” he said. “And we have a massive British actress in the video. It’s going to be iconic.”

Speaking of his new album in the press release for the single, Yungblud called it “magical” and said: “Let’s see. Get on the horse. Let’s ride.”
