Kasabian played their first gig without vocalist Tom Meighan last night (October 13).

The band were joined by The Music’s Rob Harvey on backing vocals, with Serge Pizzorno as Kasabian frontman for the first time.

Speculation had been rife for weeks as to who would be fronting Kasabian for their live performances, with Rob’s name mentioned frequently.

A series of intimate shows kicked off last night at Glasgow’s O2 Academy, giving fans the first chance to see the band in their new form.

The band delivered a set spanning their entire career, with fans raving about Serge’s performance on social media.

Rob Harvey confirmed his participation with the band by sharing a video on his Instagram.

As well as The Music, he also appears in The D.O.T with Mike Skinner of The Streets and has been songwriting for the likes of Clean Bandit, Jess Glynne, and Joel Corry.

Tom Meighan left the band last year after he was convicted of assaulting his girlfriend. At the time, Meighan said he was “to leaving concentrate all his energies on getting his life back on track.”

The former frontman appeared at Leicester Magistrates court, where he pleaded guilty to the assault of Vikki Ager. He was sentenced to 200 hours of unpaid work.

The band tweeted their happiness following the first show, writing “Glasgow, that gig was everything, beyond the stratosphere to new moons. Thank you! What a start.”

Fans replied enthusiastically: “All of you smashed it. Silence the haters. The party never ends.”

Another added: “It was such a smashing show. Your doubts should rest assured now as they were truly amazing. If you’ve got tickets for this tour or seeing them somewhere in the summer next year you’re in for such a show!”

The band are playing a series of shows, and will be headlining the Isle Of Wight festival 2022.
