Jamie T announces fifth album ‘The Theory Of Whatever’
The South London singer's fifth album will arrive in July

Jamie T has announced he’ll return this summer with ‘The Theory Of Whatever’, the fifth album from the South London singer.
The ‘Sheila’ singer‘s next record will arrive on July 29, with confirmation coming via a tongue-in-cheek video on social media which saw him making fun of instructions from his record label.
In the clip, Jamie is seen reading an email which asks him to create a trailer that “incorporates some snippets of songs off the new album”. True to that request, we’re then treated to the briefest of samples from new offerings with titles such as ’90s cars’ and the psych-driven ‘Keying Lamborghinis’.
Elsewhere, the email states that he must “include an album title or at least a reference, however subtle”. True to piss-taking form, the title ‘The Theory Of Whatever’ is then seen to flash up on the screen in large white letters.
While a release date of July 29 is confirmed at the very end, the video stops short of revealing the lead single’s title or indeed when fans can expect to hear it. But, with July 29 only months away, it’s fair to assume it should be arriving rather soon.
Confirmation of the record comes after he revealed that new music was on the way earlier this year.
Announcing a 15th anniversary edition of his debut album ‘Panic Prevention’ on social media in January, he shared a clip of himself next to noisy roadworks reading out an email sent to him by his manager with all the details of the reissue.
At the end of the clip, the singer says that new music is coming “soon”.
Earlier that month it emerged that Jamie’s fifth album was “done” after a since-deleted tweet from mixing engineer Jag Jago was posted online.
The new album will be Jamie’s first since 2016’s ‘Trick’. Since that release, Jamie – real name Jamie Treays – has earned co-writing credits on Miles Kane’s 2018 album ‘Coup De Grace’.
Last October, it was revealed that T had been in the studio with Carl Barât of The Libertines. The pair were pictured together alongside The Prodigy’s Olly Burden. “Da boys in the band… Been cookin’ up some dope lit sick shiz innit,” Barât wrote as the caption.
