After launching her solo career with the massive hit single ‘Angel Of My Dreams’, JADE has returned with new song ‘Midnight Cowboy’.

The pulsing club banger was co-written by RAYE and sees Dr Who star Gatwa offering up a spoken word interlude that bookends the track.

JADE said: “I promised the fans wouldn’t have to wait too long for more music…so I think it’s ‘bout time for the ‘Midnight Cowboy’.

“Written in 2022 by RAYE and I, produced by Jonah Christian and featuring a guest moment from the one and only Ncuti Gatwa – ‘Midnight Cowboy’ is a sultry, understated bass heavy bop about owning your sexuality and your talents that come with it.”

‘Angel Of My Dreams’ arrived back in July and has accumulated over 40 million streams to date, as well as a number of inspired remixes. These include the Mariah-esque ‘S.A.D – Slow, Angelic, Dramatic’ version and a Scooter remix which sees the German techno stalwarts putting a pumping twist on the song.

Reviewing the original version of the track, Rolling Stone UK described it as “a firm two fingers to the dark side of the music industry”.

“This is a song that starts with the most distinctive of left-turns: a distorted sample of Sandie Shaw’s ‘Puppet On A String’ is heard, before it makes way for a production-heavy, Mariah-esque chorus,” we said.

“In turn, it then transforms into a dance banger anchored by the kind of raw beat that feels entirely on brand for Brat Summer™. Still with us? The point is, there’s a LOT going on – and it’s a reflection of the bold vision that Thirlwall wanted to put across on her first ever solo outing.”
