Hard Life return with new single ‘Othello’
It’s the band’s second track since they were forced to change their name from Easy Life following a lawsuit by easyJet

Hard Life, the band formerly known as Easy Life, have returned with their second track of their new era – listen to ‘Othello’ below.
In late 2023, the Leicester-formed, London-based band were sued over their band name by easyJet and forced to rename the group.
They returned last summer with the track ‘Tears’ and are now sharing ‘Othello’, a track frontman Murray Matravers says is “a pun on the board game, but also draws from the play’s themes of trust, identity, and the destructive forces of unchecked emotions like jealousy.”
He added: “Relationships – whether personal, romantic, or professional – are rarely straightforward, and after making difficult decisions you sometimes cross this threshold of no return. ‘othello’ captures that moment of uncertainty, where someone leaves your life, and there’s a profound emptiness that takes over as you wallow in the unknown.”

Speaking to Rolling Stone UK last year, Matravers spoke of the band’s fresh start and said: “I’m just excited to be back. To have a new chapter and release music is something I feel extremely grateful for, because it’s something I took for granted, to be honest with you because, well, why wouldn’t I?
“I’ve been doing it for so many years, and it I’d never thought that all of a sudden it would come to an end. You can get used to the whole rigmarole of this, but now it feels brand new and I’m excited. I’m jittery. I’m genuinely, genuinely excited rather than just saying I’m excited in an interview.”
