Franz Ferdinand have teased a new single called ‘Don’t Forget The Best Bits’.
The Scottish group, whose latest album ‘Always Ascending’ arrived in 2018, shared a 13-second snippet of the forthcoming track on Twitter last week. In the caption, fans were prompted to sign up for updates.
Last night (October 31), Franz Ferdinand appeared to confirm the song’s release date of November 2 alongside another black-and-white clip. You can see the posts below.
As reported by Dork, Alex Kapranos and co. have been sending out special postcards as they prepare to enter their next era. The outlet also noted that you can access a longer preview of ‘Don’t Forget The Best Bits’ upon searching ‘The New Scottish Gentry’ on Spotify (tune in here).
News of Franz Ferdinand’s imminent return comes after the band announced the departure of their original drummer, Paul Thomson. The musician, who had been in the group since they formed in 2002, has been replaced by Audrey Tait.
“After nearly 20 years the time has come for this boy to step aside,” Thomson wrote in a statement last month (October 21). “I never imagined in 2002 that life would have all of this in store. It’s been like a dream and I’m still processing.”
He continued: “I want to thank each of you that bought a record, came to a concert and shared all these experiences with me. I will never forget it. Franz Ferdinand was, is, and always will be family and a huge part of me.”
In a separate message, the band said that the new line-up’s time in the studio had been “electrifying”, adding: “We can’t wait to play live for you all.”
Franz Ferdinand played their first show with Audrey Tait on September 29.
