FKA twigs plays new album in full at New York listening party
Attendees included Julia Fox, who called the album “truly magical” and appeared to reveal its title, ‘EUSEXUA’.
FKA twigs reportedly played her new album in its entirety at a listening party in New York last night.
The singer has been teasing the follow-up to 2019’s MAGDALENE for years, and attendees including Julia Fox took to social media to praise the “truly magical” new material they were played on Tuesday night.
Taking to her Instagram Stories, Fox appeared to reveal that the album will be called EUSEXUA and said: “The whole room was pulsing with electricity and raw emotion,. I love u twigs, thank u for everything u do for us.”
The artist Linux was also in attendance and wrote: “Sitting in a foggy LES basement last night on a full moon chainsmoking cigarettes with FKA twigs as she played me and Julia Fox her new album from start to finish was one of the most fab experiences I’ve had in my life….this new album is so fucking good you guys are not ready.”
In March, twigs returned to music with ‘Talk to Me’, her duet with electronic duo Two Shell. It came after she began teasing her forthcoming album on Discord. She said that the album was inspired by a trip to Prague where she “fell in love with techno,” though said that “the album isn’t techno but the spirit is there,” adding: “It’s deep but not sad… I’m not sad anymore.”
twigs began writing her next album from scratch after dozens of her demos were leaked by a hacker last October. “I got hacked, somebody leaked 85 of my demos,” she wrote. “Well done, no new music for a while now.”
