FKA twigs and Central Cee to release joint single ‘Measure Of A Man’
The collaboration features on 'The King’s Man' film soundtrack
FKA twigs and Central Cee will release collaborative song ‘Measure Of A Man’ next week.
The two acts have contributed the song to the soundtrack for new film, ‘The King’s Man’, which is released in UK and US cinemas on December 22. ‘Measure Of A Man’ will premiere on Thursday (November 18) on BBC Radio 1 at 6pm GMT.
What appears to be a leaked snippet of the song is circulating on TikTok.
An IMDB description of ‘The King’s Man’, which is directed by Matthew Vaughn, reads: “In the early years of the 20th century, the Kingsman agency is formed to stand against a cabal plotting a war to wipe out millions.”
The period action spy prequel is the third instalment in Vaughn’s Kingsman series and stars Ralph Fiennes, Gemma Arterton and Rhys Ifans.
‘Measure Of A Man’ will be FKA twigs’ first new music since she released the track ‘Don’t Judge Me’ in January. Her last album was 2019’s ‘MAGDALENE’.
In September twigs joined a global campaign to help prevent domestic and sexual violence, after she alleged last December that her former partner, the actor Shia LaBeouf, had inflicted emotional and physical abuse on her.
LaBeouf responded by denying most of the claims, saying that he had “been abusive to myself and everyone around me for years” but “many of these allegations are not true”. His laywer confirmed to Variety that the actor was seeking treatment in rehab for addiction and psychological issues.
The pair reportedly had “productive negotiations” this summer to settle the sexual battery lawsuit that twigs had filed against LaBeouf, however, no further updates have been made public.
The ‘Join The Chorus’ initiative that twigs backed in September is spearheaded by an animated short film featuring the singer to raise awareness of the need “for collective power to stop the violence that one in three women experience in their lifetimes”.
The clip is based on the fable ‘The Flock’, in “which one bird gets trapped in a tree by a perpetrator of violence and can only break free with the help of her entire community of birds”.
Elsewhere, Central Cee has received four nods for this year’s MOBO Awards: Best Male Act, Song Of The Year (‘Commitment Issues’), Best Newcomer and Best Drill Act. He appears in the Best Newcomer category alongside Joy Crookes, BERWYN and more.
