Dave Grohl is set to be the latest high profile face to make an appearance on ‘CBeebies Bedtime Stories’.
The Foo Fighters frontman and all-round rock icon will entertain children across the UK by reading ‘Octopus’s Garden’, a colourful tale based on the Beatles song of the same name.
Written by former Beatles drummer Ringo Starr and with pictures by Ben Cort, the book follows five children as they embark on a magical journey through the octopus’s garden.
The titular beast takes them on a lavish underwater adventure, riding on the backs of turtles, playing pirates in a sunken city and sheltering from a storm in the octopus’s cave.
It’s the first of two stories recorded by Grohl for the channel, and it’ll air this Friday (October 8).
“As a proud father of three, I’ve always enjoyed reading stories to my children. It was a pleasure to read these stories for CBeebies,” said Grohl.
He’s not the first musician to deliver a bedtime story for the channel, with the likes of Dolly Parton, ABBA’s Bjorn Ulvaeus, Sir Elton John, George Ezra and Rag’n’ Bone Man all previously making appearances.
Elsewhere, Grohl recently reflected on the time that Paul McCartney gave his daughter her very first piano lesson.
Ahead of releasing new memoir ‘The Storyteller’ on October 5, he revealed that the Beatles icon once visited his house for dinner and ended up playing the piano with five-year-old daughter Harper.
“We have wine and pizza and we were hanging out, and it was time for Paul to go,” Grohl told The Graham Norton Show. “Paul and [his wife] Nancy were leaving and there was a piano in the corner of the room, and he just can’t help himself.”
“So he sits down at the piano and starts playing ‘Lady Madonna’… In my fucking house!” Grohl said, remembering how in awe he was at the time. “My mind is blown, I can’t believe this is happening. This is like the most crazy full-circle moment of my entire life.”
He continued: “My daughter Harper, who I think was five at the time, is watching Paul McCartney on the piano and she goes to the kitchen and gets a coffee cup, puts some change in it and puts it on top of the piano like it’s a tip jar.”
Grohl also recently revealed that he is open to playing live with ABBA, having admitted he “wept like a baby” when he heard the group’s recent comeback singles.
