Britney Spears hints at new music in Instagram post
The singer's 13-year conservatorship was terminated last month

Britney Spears has teased new music and given fans a powerful reminder of her vocal ability in a fresh Instagram video.
The singer last month saw her conservatorship come to an end after 13 years, meaning that her father, Jamie Spears, no longer has control over her personal or financial interests. The new video sees Spears vocalising in the mirror, while its lengthy caption has her reflecting on post-conservatorship life, with the hitmaker saying she needed to “be her own cheerleader” after being put through the legal wringer by her family.
“I just realized this today guys … after what my family tried to do to me three years ago … I needed to be my own cheerleader !!!!” she wrote. “God knows they weren’t …so I just read up on my self and this is what I found.”
Spears then goes onto list her achievements by quoting her artist bio from RCA Records. “‘Multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning pop icon Britney Spears is one of the most successful and celebrated entertainers in pop history with nearly 100 million records sold worldwide. In the U.S. alone, she has sold more than 70 million albums, singles and songs, according to Nielsen Music.'”
“‘Spears has sold 33.6 million albums in the U.S. and ranks as the 18th-best selling album artist in the Nielsen era,’” she continued. “‘Her songs have drawn 25 billion in cumulative radio airplay audience and 2.6 billion on-demand U.S. audio and video streams combined and she’s sold 39.8 million singles (36.9 million via downloads).’”
Spears concluded that she is “not auditioning for anything,”, but “reminding myself and the world of who I am.” She rounded off the caption with both another pot-shot at her family – “I’m here to remind my white “classy” family that I haven’t forgotten what they did to me nor will I ever forget” – as well as a hint that new material is on the way, saying “Pssss new song in the works … I’m gonna let you know what I mean!!!!”
The new post comes as Spears’ attorney described as “an abomination” an attempt by her father earlier this week to have his daughter pay the legal fees he incurred as the conservatorship was wound up. In other news on Spears’ future, she recently admitted that she may no longer tour, saying “I don’t think I ever want to do it again.”
