The singer’s acclaimed sixth album Brat has been the defining cultural moment of summer 2024 ever since its release back in June, with fans embracing the record’s lime green artwork as well as the record’s unrepentant hedonism.
XCX has stoked the Brat fires throughout the summer too, declaring that “Kamala IS Brat” after Kamala Harris was chosen as Joe Biden’s successor as Democrat candidate in the 2024 Presidential Race.
The record was also nominated for the 2024 Mercury Prize and is a hot favourite to scoop the award when it is announced this Thursday (September 5).
But as Autumn beckons, it seems all good things must come to an end. “goodbye forever brat summer,” the singer tweeted yesterday (September 2).
Refusing to accept the apparent news, one fan commented: “rip brat summer, hello brat autumn.”
While Brat summer might be at an end, fans can look forward to Charli’s upcoming arena tour which hits the UK this November.
Last month also saw XCX share the hugely celebrated remix of Guess’ with Billie Eilish.
The track is the second song off Brat to receive a remixed edition with a guest star. Shortly after the album’s release, Charli shared ‘The girl, so confusing version with lorde’ after fans had heavily speculated that the song was about the Kiwi pop star.
‘Guess’, produced by The Dare, appears on the deluxe version of the album, titled Brat and it’s the same but there’s three more songs so it’s not. It also features the tracks ‘Hello goodbye’, ‘Guess‘ and ‘Spring breakers’.
