Adele scores UK chart double for ‘Easy on Me’ and ’30’ for second week running
The pop behemoth is seemingly unstoppable
Adele has secured a UK chart double for the second week running.
The pop star’s single ‘Easy on Me’, which is taken from her new album ‘30‘, has scored its seventh consecutive week at Number One on the Official Singles Chart. It has 69,000 chart sales, including 8.4 million streams, making it Adele’s longest-reigning Number One single.
’30’, meanwhile, continues to sell strongly into its second week after racking up 102,000 chart sales over the last seven days, including 81 per cent of its total being made up of physical and digital download copies.
Last month, ’30’ became the biggest selling album of the year in the US just three days after its release.
According to Billboard, more than 500,000 copies of Adele‘s album were sold between its release date on Friday, November 19 and Sunday, November 21. It took things past the record set by Taylor Swift‘s ‘Evermore’, which has sold 462,000 this year despite being released in December 2020, as well as the Swift’s new album, ‘Red (Taylor’s Version)’, which has sold 369,000 copies so far.
Largely written in response to her divorce from her husband of three years, Simon Konecki, Adele’s ’30’ has been hailed as her “best album yet” by fans. Rolling Stone UK praised it as her “most personal album” in a four-star review.
In other news, Adele confirmed recently that she’ll head out to Las Vegas early next year for a long-rumoured residency in Sin City.
The singer will perform at the Colosseum at Caesars’ Palace for the Weekends With Adele residency, which is set to kick off on January 21.
The shows will continue every weekend through to April 2022, with fans able to purchase tickets through a pre-sale here from December 7 at 10am PST.
Adele‘s lengthy stint at the venue was initially rumoured earlier this year, with reports claiming that she will be able to stay at her Los Angeles home by using a private jet to fly her to each show.
