Adele calls fans to personally apologise for Las Vegas residency postponement

Adele has called her fans to personally apologise for the postponement of her Las Vegas residency over the weekend.
The singer’s ‘Weekends with Adele’ shows at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, which were due to begin last Friday (January 21), were pulled at the last minute on Thursday (January 20). In an emotional video posted to social media, Adele blamed the cancellations on delivery days and a COVID-19 outbreak among her team.
The postponement was met with an angry backlash from many fans, some of who had spent thousands of dollars on tickets, transport and accommodation. Others questioned why delays to the production meant that the entire run of gigs, which was due to run until April 16, needed to be rescheduled. The decision to proceed with the opening of an Adele gift shop at the casino also raised eyebrows in some quarters.
Now, reports of emerged of the ‘Easy on Me’ hitmaker placing personal video calls to disappointed fans over the weekend. In one video circulating on social media, she apologises personally to fans who had travelled from New York to see her perform. “I’m really sorry for not being there,” she said.
She also posted a message to Twitter on Saturday, thanking her supporters for messages of good will. “I have the best fans in the world! Your graciousness and love tonight is overwhelming! Thank you,” she wrote, along with a heart emoji.
The cancellations mean that the Tottenham singer’s wait to return to the stage in front of the general public goes on. In June 2017, she cancelled the final two dates of her ’25’ tour on account of vocal injury. Last year, she performed for two, invite-only televised specials in Los Angeles and London.
With new dates for ‘Weekends with Adele’ yet to be confirmed, Adele’s only presently scheduled dates are two nights at Hyde Park in London on July 1 and 2 this year. The shows are sold out, with the Mirror reporting that tickets were changing hands on the secondary market for up to 12 times their face value.
