ABBA tease festive music video for new single ‘Little Things’
Their Christmas single is released as a limited edition special CD on Friday
ABBA have shared a teaser from what looks to be the music video for their new song ‘Little Things’.
The Christmas single, which follows the double A-side release of ‘I Still Have Faith in You’/’Don’t Shut Me Down’ from the band’s new album ‘Voyage‘ is released tomorrow (December 3).
It will be available as a limited edition special CD and will be accompanied by the release of a new music video. A teaser clip posted by ABBA today (December 2) shows a Christmassy scene shot from a snowy garden looking at the back of a decorated house.
The news follows ABBA’s album – their first in 40 years – debuting at the top of the UK’s Official Albums Chart last month. It became the fastest-selling album of 2021 before being overtaken a fortnight later by Adele‘s ’30’.
ABBA suggested recently that ‘Voyage’ could be their final studio album, although Anni-Frid Lyngstad has since kept fans guessing by saying “don’t be too sure” that there won’t be any more new music in future.
In a five-star review of ‘Voyage’, Rolling Stone UK’s Darren Styles said: “‘I Still Have Faith in You’ opens ‘Voyage’ and it reassures and celebrates, in equal measure, that the wholesome foursome is intact, in touch and maintains belief on the back of memories they’ve shared.
“‘Voyage’ is a majestic finish, both familiar and new – drawn, as ever was the case, from a range of musical influences miles wide in breadth and depth.
“It’s ABBA as they ever were, locked in period without apology or shame, and above all is a fitting finale.”
Next year will also see the opening of ‘ABBA Voyage’, a concert experience which will feature digital versions of the band and will also include a 10 piece live band. It involved construction of a 3,000 capacity arena in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
The show’s film producer Baillie Walsh told The Guardian what fans can expect. “So we literally filmed Abba, then [Royal Ballet choreographer] Wayne McGregor took all their movements and extended those movements into younger body doubles, so you’ve got the soul of Abba in these younger bodies, and we blend them all together, but it’s not in 3D.”
