Watch the terrifying first trailer for ‘28 Years Later’
And is that a zombified Cillian Murphy we spy?

The first trailer has been released for 28 Years Later, the anticipated third instalment of Danny Boyle’s pioneering zombie trilogy. You can watch it below.
The third instalment in the franchise stars the likes of Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ralph Fiennes and Jodie Comer, while Boyle and Alex Garland return as director and writer, after Juan Carlos Fresnadillo helmed the 2007 sequel 28 Weeks Later.
The first trailer hones in on the experiences of a group of survivors led by Fiennes and Taylor-Johnson who appear to be eking out an existence in a nomadic colony.
“It’s been almost three decades since the rage virus escaped a biological weapons laboratory, and now, still in a ruthlessly enforced quarantine, some have found ways to exist amidst the infected,” a synopsis states.
“One such group of survivors lives on a small island connected to the mainland by a single, heavily-defended causeway. When one of the group leaves the island on a mission into the dark heart of the mainland, he discovers secrets, wonders and horrors that have mutated not only the infected but other survivors as well.”
It’s yet to be confirmed if Cillian Murphy – an executive producer on this film – will reprise his original role as Day One survivor Jim, but many have honed in on a shot in the trailer of a zombie who bears more than a passing resemblance to the character.
It was also reported earlier this year that the film has been entirely shot on an iPhone 15. Wired reports it was specifically filmed on an adapted version of the device. The project boasts a budget of $75 million (£56.4million), which means it will become one of the biggest budget films ever created on smartphones.
The film is set for release on June 20 2025 and will be followed by a sequel called The Bone Temple, which is also currently shooting and directed by Candyman helmer Nia DaCosta.
