Lashana Lynch leads nominees for 2022 BAFTA Rising Star
Ariana DeBose, Harris Dickinson, Millicent Simmonds and Kodi Smit-McPhee are also up for the gong
Rolling Stone UK cover star Lashana Lynch is among the nominees for the 2022 edition of the BAFTA Rising Star award.
Nominees for the award, which will be given at the 2022 BAFTAs on Sunday, March 13, were selected by a panel of industry experts including Sadie Frost, Andy Serkis and Michelle Dockery.
Also up for the award, the only one at the ceremony to be voted for by the British public, are Ariana DeBose, Harris Dickinson, Millicent Simmonds and Kodi Smit-McPhee, alongside ‘No Time To Die’ star Lynch.
Speaking about her nomination, Lynch said: “The EE Rising Star Award is one I’ve always admired for recognising exciting emerging talent. I’m so elated for my fellow nominees who inspire myself and others, as we continue to fight for change within our industry and the world. I’m proud to be able to do that in moments like these.”
Voting for the award is now open here, with the winner announced at the 2022 BAFTAs next month.
Last month, the longlist of nominees for the 2022 BAFTAs was announced, with Steven Spielberg’s ‘West Side Story’ and Kenneth Branagh’s ‘Belfast’ lead the way on the longlist with 15 nods apiece. Ridley Scott’s ‘House Of Gucci’ – starring Lady Gaga and Adam Driver – makes 13 appearances, including in the Best Film and Outstanding British Film categories.
It features in the Best Film category alongside titles such as ‘Dune’, ‘Don’t Look Up’, ‘No Time To Die’, ‘The French Dispatch’, ‘Licorice Pizza’ and ‘tick tick…BOOM!’.
Also in the running for Outstanding British Film are ‘Cruella’, ‘Last Night In Soho’, ‘The King’s Man’, ‘Spencer’ and more. The likes of ‘Boiling Point’, ‘After Love’, ‘Dying To Divorce’ and ‘Passing’ are up for Outstanding Debut by A British Writer, Director or Producer.
