Charli XCX won’t be taking requests to play ‘Boom Clap’ at your local college anytime soon.

In the latest trailer for upcoming comedy series Overcompensating, created by comedian and actor Benito Skinner, Charli appears to play an outlandish version of herself as she yells at a hapless lady sporting an earpiece and clipboard: “Do you think I wanna play fucking ’Boom Clap’ in a fucking college? Are you joking?”

The rest of the teaser hints at some of the madcap adventures to come. According to a synopsis of the show, Overcompensating features “a college-set ensemble comedy” and chronicles the “wild, chaotic journey of Benny (Skinner), a closeted former football player and homecoming king, as he becomes fast friends with Carmen (Wally Baram), a high school outsider on a mission to fit in at all costs.” The “deeply funny and personal” series will follow Benny and Carmen as they “juggle horrible hookups, flavoured vodka, and fake IDs.”

The series, which is produced by A24 and Amazon MGM Studios, is set to rollout all eight episodes on May 15 on Prime Video. Along with being written and executive produced by Skinner, Scott King serves as showrunner and executive producer and Jonah Hill, Matt Dines, and Ali Goodwin executive produce for Strong Baby.

Charli, who is also Overcompensating’s executive music producer, will make her special guest appearance among series regulars Wally Baram, Mary Beth Barone, Adam DiMarco, Rish Shah, and Skinner himself. There will also be an ensemble of recurring cast members including Connie Britton, Kyle MacLachlan, Kaia Gerber, Julia Shiplett, Tommy Do, Alexandra Beaton, Claire Qute, Elias Azimi, and Maddie Phillips.

“This cast and crew are my heroes and they made this little thing in my head so big, so funny, so sad, so beautiful, and dare I say… so sexy,” Skinner previously wrote in an Instagram post teasing the show. “I am so lucky to get to do this and I hope I make you all proud!”
