Indiana Jones 5 is facing yet more delays after Disney announced it was being pushed back by another year.
The Harrison Ford film is just one of the titles being delayed, as well as Marvel titles ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’, ‘Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania’, and ‘Thor: Love and Thunder.’
It will now arrive on June 30 2023, pushed back from an original arrival of July 29 next year.
Disney is yet to reveal why they decided to slow things down, but recent Marvel release ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ proved a huge box office success, while there have also been early positive reactions for ‘Eternals’.
Producers aren’t giving much away about the plot or what fans can expect from Indiana Jones’ fifth outing, but the final script was written by Jez Butterworth, John-Henry Butterworth and James Mangold.
One thing fans do know is it will follow on from 2008’s Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, however, some rumours claim it will be set in the 60s, a decade after that film took place.
Photos leaked from the set also appear to show Roman soldiers, with some fans now wondering if there will be a time travel element to the sequel.
Iconic title star Harrison Ford will be 80 years old by the time the film hits cinemas.
The cast also includes Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Shaunette Renée Wilson, Thomas Kretschmann, Toby Jones, Boyd Holbrook, Mads Mikkelsen and Antonio Banderas.
Filming started back in June 2021 in the UK, before moving to Sicily in Italy back in September.
There have also been rumours that Ford will be de-aged for some of the film, which is something they refused to do in earlier movies.
Some of the other delays include Marvel’s ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ moving from March 25, 2022 to May 5, 2022.
One of the other biggest delays is for ‘The Marvels’ (Captain Marvel 2) which has been moved from November 11, 2022 to February 17, 2023, and the Ant-Man sequel has shifted from February 2023 to July 28, 2023.
Filming was previously halted when Harrison Ford sustained an injury on set, but was back to work within a few weeks.
