Within the tattoo industry, Reena and Nigel’s journey reveals a unique story of passion, dedication, and artistic evolution. These two met in a way that appears almost art-predetermined itself. This narrative is not just about ink on the skin; it is about legacy, innovation, and the relentless pursuit of excellence in the tattoo world. From a very young age, Reena was immersed in the tattoo industry. Her father, Robert Pho, a respected figure in the tattoo industry with 35 years of experience, was her inspiration. Reena’s ambition was not a fleeting childhood dream but a calling she felt deep within her soul. She vividly remembers telling her elementary school peers about her aspiration to become a tattoo artist. This dream became a reality when she inked her first tattoo at the tender age of 16 on her mother. After an intensive apprenticeship of a year and a half in one of her family’s shops back in Oahu, Hawaii, Reena has not only followed in her father’s footsteps. However, she has also begun carving out her legacy in the tattoo industry.

Nigel, a young man from the Bay Area with an unexpected love, entered into the world of tattoos. In his fourth year of college as a chemistry major in Hawaii, Nigel stumbled upon Skin Design Tattoo, the studio founded by Reena’s father. The artistry and skill of Robert Pho captivated him so profoundly that he made the life-altering decision to drop out of college and dive headfirst into an apprenticeship under Robert’s guidance. This marked the beginning of a dynamic partnership that would soon leave an indelible mark on the tattoo industry.

Together, Reena and Nigel have taken the Skin Design Tattoo business to incredible new heights. With seven locations across the United States, including the bustling and promising studio in Orange County’s Rodeo 39, they have not only expanded the business but have also enriched the tattoo culture in every community they have touched. Their move to New York to establish the newest location showcases their commitment to spreading their art and brand nationwide. Moreover, their plans to compete in prestigious conventions and expos, such as the Empire State and Golden State Conventions, highlight their ambition to be recognized among the elite in the tattoo world. Specializing in black and gray realism and micro realism, Reena and Nigel have developed a collaborative working style that is both rare and delightful. Their partnership goes beyond mere collaboration; it is a shared vision of growth, exploration, and artistic expression. They dream of traveling the world together, spreading their unique art form, and making a lasting impact on the global tattoo scene.

Reena and Nigel aspire to take Skin Design Tattoo International and build on Robert Pho’s legacy. They also want to push the boundaries of the tattoo business. Nigel wants to compete on a global level and bring their art to places like the UK. This is part of a bigger plan to become known and respected in the global art community. The story of Reena and Nigel can inspire people to be creative, dedicated, and have a clear goal. Their story isn’t just about tattoos; it’s also about familial legacy, personal growth, and the bond that can’t be broken between people who share goals and work hard to achieve them. As Reena and Nigel continue to explore new things and make their mark on the world, one thing is certain: their story will continue to move and inspire people for generations to come.

Their story shows how strong determination can be, how important mentorship is, and endless possibilities that arise when artistry and ambition come together.
