Sophia Mengrosso is a classically trained opera singer and composer who has found her artistic home in rock and heavy metal. Blending her sophisticated voice with the raw intensity of metal, she has created a sound that is both powerful and deeply personal. Drawing inspiration from bands like Evanescence, Nightwish, Metallica, Seether, and Halestorm, she has developed a distinctive style that sets her apart in the music industry. Her debut full-length album, “Unforgiven,” released last year, launched Sophia’s career and unveiled a deeply introspective body of work that put her talent to expression and gave voice to much-needed discourse about strength, trauma, and empowerment.

Finding Her True Voice

For Sophia Mengrosso, music has always been about expression. Discovering her true voice, she had to move beyond conventional music and more towards the high-energy worlds of rock and metal. “I have always liked this type of music, and being able to write in this style is completely true to me,” she explains.

Turning Pain Into Music

One of Sophia Mengrosso’s biggest struggles has been to overcome vulnerability in talking about her experiences. “There is a perpetual fear of being misunderstood,” she says. “Honesty is my process. I examine my experiences and my struggles and, rather than seeing them as limitations, I see them as inspiration for my lyrics.”

That raw emotion can be heard in each of the 13 songs on “Unforgiven,” about her life, relationships, and how she has overcome. The album is meant to urge people to speak up. “There is just so much shame that comes along with your feelings being locked up and you can feel helplessness,” she says. “We’re taught to forgive, forget, and move forward, but I believe there is strength in talking about pain and using it to inspire change.”

A Message of Strength and Perseverance

By channeling her pain into music, Mengrosso not only finds solace for herself but also creates a space of empowerment for her listeners. Moving forward, she plans to collaborate with like-minded artists and continue building a discography that carries messages of strength and perseverance.

In an era where authenticity comes second to marketability, Sophia Mengrosso is not about to forego her true voice. “I don’t find my music isolating, it’s something that’s meant to bring us together,” she clarifies. “I’m not looking to be different; I’m looking to be true to myself and inspire people to do their thing.”
