A dim studio hosts three distinct personas who transform poetry through music, visual art and film. The alter egos—MahnoDahno, MahniDahni and Bambolina—serve as creative channels through which artist Fella Cederbaum reveals universal truths. Not only does her work merge poetry, music, and visual elements into a unified expression that breaks conventional storytelling boundaries, but she is also unique in that she is poet and performer, composer and musician, artist and painter, performer and producer – all rolled into one.
Cederbaum’s deep artistic explorations, let creativity flow freely beyond traditional mediums. Her distinctive way of merging art forms has drawn audiences worldwide, demonstrating a novel approach for art to convey deeper truths about the human experience.
The Origins of Three Characters
Poetry appears in Cederbaum’s mind fully formed, requiring minimal refinement—a rare gift that allows her to channel raw inspiration into her work. These spontaneous creative surges asked for an outlet separate from herself. MahnoDahno, her first alter ego, originated in a costumed holiday celebration and morphed into a vessel for expressing truth and asking questions, rather than stating opinions and asserting personal identity.
MahniDahni joined later as a female counterpart (though both characters, true to form, wear mustaches) adding depth to Cederbaum’s artistic expression. Bambolina, an animated figure, completed the trio, bringing whimsy and profundity to her work.
These three personas separate the message from the messenger, pulling audiences into pure artistic expression, devoid of distraction. Through these alter-ego characters, she creates wide open spaces for exploring universal themes like love, truth, existence and human connection—topics that resonate deeply with all audiences.
Weaving Art Forms Together
Though passionate about music, it is poetry that drives Cederbaum’s creative process. Each poem grows naturally into her other art forms, organically incorporating original music and visual artistry. Her paintings become film backdrops, while her musical pieces create emotional currents supporting spoken words.
By means of this natural blending of different forms of expression, Cederbaum has produced 24 short films examining life’s essential questions. Each piece flows effortlessly from Cederbaum’s creative source, requiring minimal editing—proving her authentic artistic clarity. Her films offer viewers immersive experiences that spark reflection on their own lives and beliefs.
Cederbaum has earned two Humanitarian Awards and garnered praise at numerous festivals. Tony Award-winning Broadway producer Robin de Levita called her “one of the most unique poets of modern times,” reflecting many viewers’ reactions to her work.
A Journey of Growth
Astonishingly, Cederbaum’s work constantly expands, while still maintaining its purpose: uncovering the deepest levels of our shared profound truths about life and humanity. She has written well over 200 poems, each piece springing from genuine, spontaneous inspiration rather than forced themes. This truthful creative expression distinguishes Cederbaum in today’s commercial art world.
